There’s nothing like a bracing walk along the beach with your dog. Especially with the beautiful beaches of Cornwall on your doorstep. Even if you’re not based at the coast there are plenty of waterways in close proximity that you could ramble next to.
Walking is the simplest outdoors activity you can indulge in. For many adding a dog can heighten the experience no end. Chuck in a stretch of water, such as the ocean, and all’s complete.
Safety next to seas, rivers and lakes, however, should be paramount. Most dogs can swim but even they can get into difficulties should conditions take a turn for the worse.
At the coast, as many surfers and watersports bods will know, calm placid days – with seemingly no dangers – can often be times when swimmers get into trouble. The unseen is the danger. So rips and strong currents can all cause issues. And this goes for you doggy friends as well.
The pictures accompanying this article show the dogs wearing NCW’s doggy bouynacy aids, which we’ve posted about already. You can see how with being worn the dogs still have plenty of freedom of movement, are super happy and the dog’s owners have peace of mind. Feedback has been especially positive. We’re chuffed!
Whether you enter the water at this time of year depends on how hardy and keen you are. But getting outdoors with your furry mate is a no brainer. There’s nothing quite like the off season for rambles with man’s best friend.
