Wild swimming‘s something we know a thing or two about here at NCW. We get loads of enquiries asking about NCW wetsuits and whether they’re fit for this type of thing. In short, the answer’s yes!
As with anything it’s easily to fall into a trap of believing the hype. Some of those high end triathlon suits, with their shiny materials and big bold logos do look pretty bling. The problem is they’re extremely fragile making them quite hard to look after if you’re wild swimming in locations (as most are) where they’ll be prone to picking up nicks and tears.
Even if the actual stretch of water you’re stroking in doesn’t have obstacles the entry and exit points may do. Rough tarmac or gravel, for instance, is enough to do damage to one of these single layered wetsuits.
NCW wetsuits in contrast are rugged, hard wearing and fit for many different purposes – wild swimming being just one. They’re flexibly and warm ensuring you have complete freedom of movement whilst retaining body heat. At this time of year and in to winter that’s imperative for wild swimmers.
