Whilst there are some spots open for overseas travel, by and large, most of us will be (once again) staycationing on home turf this summer. As with 2020 that means many will be looking for ways to enhance their time at beaches, lakes, rivers and outdoor locations around the UK. With this in mind here’re a few suggestions for additional ‘toy box’ goodies that all the family will get benefit from.
Stand up paddle boarding.
Yep, it’s ever popular stand up paddle boarding that’s capturing people’s imaginations the most with inflatables proving to have the most appeal. As it stands sales of SUP equipment aren’t slowing down with every man, woman and dog getting in on the action.
Here at NCW we stock a range of inflatable stand up paddle boards from O’Shea. The 10’2 and 10’6 are great all rounders which’ll keep the kids, plus mum and dad amused for hours. SUPs are so versatile they can be thrown at many different types of watery scenarios making them extremely versatile.

And if you’re not feeling inflatables NCW can also provide a cost effective hard shell stand up paddle from BIC. The 10’4 BIC Bodyglove SUP is a tough, well performing board sourced directly from the manufacturer.
BIC Bodyglove 10’4 x 31″ TOUGH-TEC hard shell stand up paddle board.
The BIC Bodyglove 10’4 ACE-TEC hard shell stand up paddle board is a collaboration between two well known watersports brands: BIC and Bodyglove. The result is a hard wearing/durable (because of the bombproof thermoformed TOUGH-TEC manufacturing technique) stand up paddle board that’ll stand the test of time.
An all round stand up paddling shape the BIC Bodylglove 10’4 can be taken off on a jaunt (with essentials being stowed up front via bungee connected to the deck mounted fixing points. It’ll also happily take on a few small waves should SUP surfing be your thing.
Comes with thruster fin boxes, although ships with single fin, but you can add more. Leash and an adjustable SUP paddle also included.
NOTE: this stand up paddle is delivered from the manufacturer direct to you.

Tahe Techno windsurf boards.
Windsurfing’s another watersport that’s seen reinvigorated interest over the past 12+ months with riders getting back involved after a prolonged break or bods entering the sport for the first time. Recently NCW launched our windsurfing arm of the business, dealing with Tahe Marine and the well know Techno windsurf board range.
Out of all of them it’s most likely the Tahe Techno 148L that’ll fit the bill. A good option for learners, improvers and those who fancy a blast in light to moderate winds. Tahe’s ACE-TEC construction sees the Techno range being durable and hard wearing but still able to provide huge amounts of fun. Check out the full list over on NCW’s Windsurfing page.
Tahe Techno 148L ACE-TEC freeride windsurfing board.
We know this board well, as do many other long standing windsurfers. The name Techno is written into windsurfing history as a classic. Although Tahe’s newer range of Techno windsurfing boards are improvements on the still highly regarded old school design.
The Tahe Techno 148L windsurfing board is a great freeride sled for light to medium winds. It’s a fun, easy to use windsurf board that forgives dodgy technique if you’re still progressing. Smaller boned individuals can use this as a beginner board, that’ll then last right through to late intermediate stages, whilst heavier sailors will enjoy a spot of blasting when the breeze picks up. It’s also not too shabby should a few small lumps materialize, being able to jump and pop admirably.
Tahe’s ACE-TEC construction ensures the Techno 148L is bomb proof but without sacrificing performance. If you’re looking for a fun freeride board, that’s more diverse than you’d imagine, then look no further. Check out the Tahe Techno 148L’s full spec below.
