Electric riding; more specifically electric bikes, electric skateboards, one wheels, eFoils and electric scooters are certainly gaining in popularity. Electric vehicles are one thing – everyone needs transport. But it’s the recreational side of electric riding that’s grabbing much interest.
Electric riding for wave heads.
The worst thing about surfing is not being able to surf. Whether that be due to flat spells, howling onshores or other. Sitting it out’s dull. Many a surfer will climb the walls when benched. It’s a source of aggravation, irritation and surliness. But there’s always a way to scratch that itch when you’re electric riding.
With possibly electric scooters aside (because of not quite being in synergy) the above mentioned toys are perhaps an easy way to get a buzz. (Although hopefully not literally due to faulty electrics!). Ebikes, eSkateboards, one wheels and eFoil boards all have synergy with surfing. Yet the beauty’s in the assist.
Pooh pooh critics.
There are plenty of critics when it comes to electric riding. Shouts of impurity and cop out are the norm. Yet have a bezz round on any of these craft and it’s all smiles. Even the doubters crack faces.
After all, it’s the actual riding, craving and whizzing along at speed that everyone really wants. Having the arduous task of actually making things go is the least fun. Pushing your traditional skateboard, pedaling your bike uphill and trying to surf on flat days are rubbish. Instead, hit the NOS (assist) and away you go. Suddenly you’re carving the skateboard, floating above water on the eFoil and getting to the pinnacle of inclines with ease with an eBike.
Traditional ways.
Don’t worry. We’re not so evangelical about electric rides to the point we’re going to ditch those traditional ways. when the surf’s groomed perfection we’ll surf. If we have a sick line downhill it’s the mountain bike. And grinding rails is always fun on a skateboard. Even downhilling we love.
As with everything electrically powered ‘vehicles’ are another way to enjoy the outdoors. Therefore we feel they form part of a quiver. The motto: ‘ride everything, ride it well’ rings true. And no, we’re not suggesting ‘Jack of all trades, master of none’. (Can we roll out any more cliche sayings?).
Electrically powered ways of riding are super fun and we love them. We highly recommend trying. If it’s not to your taste then no probs. But at least you’ve dabbled.
