Outdoor adventures aren’t too difficult to experience. It’s easy to think that anyone into outdoor adventures or watersports is going at it hardcore style. Being extreme’s a given isn’t it? The bigger the risks taken the bigger the rewards. And your Instagram, Tik Tok and Facebook followers will be in awe. Oh, and don’t forget your brand supporters will be stoked too. ‘Cause everyone’s supported and endorsed these days, right? Wrong!
Social media outdoor adevntures.
The social media ‘dream’ and marketing push of all things high adrenaline couldn’t be further from the truth for the majority. For sure, it’s nice to look at when scrolling through whatever platform you happen to be logged onto. But in the flesh, on the ground, and back in the real world most adults have responsibilities and commitments that wouldn’t allow the kind of behavior on display even if he/she felt inclined. Paid up pros and those who call ‘living the dream’ their job are a million miles away from the ordinary man and woman. Which begs the question: why promote such high octane exploits to the extent they are?
Of course, with anything, there needs to be an element of aspiration and inspiration. We can all fantasise and picture those ‘what if’ scenarios. There’s nothing wrong with that. But when all said and done the actual act of real world adventuring is less Hollywood glam and more ad-hoc.
The ad-hoc way.
Most outdoors types are happy to do so in an ad-hoc way. Sometimes it may be up hills and down dales. During other periods you may simply be rambling short distances with your kids.
