NCW team rider Sam Gill’s been putting in the training hours on his race SUP lately. Having decided to get involved with paddle board racing a few months back it’s been a quick progression. His first real test was the SUP the Creek event held in Kingsbridge, Salcombe, South Devon which took place recently.
An annual SUP competition SUP the Creek is organised by Waterborn SUP with the event attracting much of the top British paddle board racing talent as well as a healthy dose of amateur racers ready to test their mettle.
Sam did an amazing job taking second place in the 12’6 category. Well done Sam! Here’s what he said after the comp –
‘2nd in the 12’6” class. Was pretty brutal. The pack started really fast and I thought: this is going to be a disaster, but we turned the corner into 5k of headwind and I started to grind and made up some good places.
Passed a lot of nice looking boards. I definitely had the worst board! Thank goodness my Ocean Specific paddle was 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks for all the support over the last month NCW!‘

Sam will be continuing his training in a bid to get even faster, in prep for his next SUP racing event. Watch this space and well done again Sam!
Note: Sam is using a custom made NCW SUP leash with an integrated swivel. Like the one in the pic below. If you need something like this get in touch.
