Long range weather predictions are currently looking brighter (literally). At time of writing there’s seemingly light at the end of what’s felt like a very long tunnel – weather wise. We may be in spring (officially) but it certainly hasn’t felt that way. Bar the odd spell or respite.
An end to winter weather blues?
In most areas, the winter’s been a wet one. It’s been cold too. Not Baltic but still chilly enough. And then of course there’s been the wind. Some decent surfing sessions have certainly been scored but picking between the chop and flotsam has been the order of the day.
While only the start of the UK’s high season after 2022’s blisteringly hot summer all eyes were firmly fixed on Easter just gone. Unfortunately, it wasn’t exactly Tropical. Sunshine in some areas was enjoyed but that was in tandem with cool air temperatures. More recently it’s been wet and blowy. In particular today (April 12, 2022) it’s blowing dogs off chains with some 50 knot gusts!
Moving forwards.
After today it looks as though things will start to settle. It should feel warm in the spring sunshine and next week (from Mon April 17) things will be more pleasant. As a ridge of high pressure moves overhead we should experience some welcome friendly weather.
The Met Office quotes the following –
Into the start of the week, a ridge of high pressure is likely to develop, resulting in fine and dry conditions for many, with breaks in the cloud likely, especially to the lee of high ground. These settled conditions are expected to continue later in the period, with frequent dry weather for most, perhaps with the odd shower.
Met Office.
Also of note is this sentence – ‘Temperatures generally above average through the period, and locally very warm in the sunshine at times.’
Any more good weather news?
Further into the month and there should be fine spells of weather with dry and sunny conditions. As per the following –
In general, there is a greater chance of a settled weather regime, maintaining the likelihood of clearer and drier conditions.
Met Office.
Also temperatures are predicted to be higher than average! Read the full Met Office long range weather forecast here.
So, hopefully, good news for all as far as the weather’s concerned. Of course, long range weather forecasts are generalised so it’s worth keeping your ear to the ground and monitoring what’s happening day by day. All being well, however, we should be on for some decent Mother Nature moods.
