Saltrock Shockwave 3/2mm chest zip wetsuit testing started recently. As regular followers of NCW will know we do a great range of North Coast Wetsuits branded products. We also supply a choice selection of third party equipment as well. But we like to know what we’re dealing with and actually use this kit to make sure our knowledge of the gear is spot on. There’s no account for actually putting wetsuits and hardware through their paces and testing it.

Saltrock need no introduction. They’re a surfing and outdoors lifestyle brand that has been around for ages. NCW started working with Saltrock a while back. We now sell a selection of Saltrock gear that we feel are good quality products. When searching for a new line of third party 3/2mm, summer style wetsuits we came across the Shockwave and decide to get one in. It was then on with seeing how it performed on/in the water.

The first to note is just how premium the Saltrock Shockwave 3/2mm chest zip wetsuit is. It’s not a cheap wetty by any means. Designed and manufactured with performance in mind it looks and feels the business.

Slipping into the Shockwave is easy. The brand’s Super Stretch neoprene making it so. Once all your bits are sorted the overhead panel manoeuvres into place without any agro. Saltrock have employed Glide Skin technology to simplify the process and reduce that annoying chaffing effect in key areas, such as around the neck.

On the water.

On the water the Saltrock Shockwave is a dream – you barely know it’s on. Yet there’s no issue with cooling down, the suit keeping riders warm but not overheating. During moves and tricks the Shockwave flexes and stretches to make twisting and contorting easy and unrestrictive. And if you should taking a dunking water flush is bare minimum. Wind chill is also reduced, which during wing foiling sessions (as pictured) is key.

All in the Saltrock Shockwave 3/2mm chest zip wetsuit is tip top. It’s a great performer for all types of watersports and looks/feels the business when worn. Saltrock have done a cracking job with the Shockwave and we look forward to enjoying further watery sessions with it.
