Autumn good weather has been in abundance of late. With summer 2023 generally being on the sub-par side, the tail end of the year has seen fit to (mostly) deliver fine conditions. Harking back to spring, with the good run we had then, it’s been an odd year for weather. A kind of fine weather sandwich if you will, just with the good bits around the edge rather than the juicy middle section. But there you go…
Autumn good weather 2023 to date.
Autumn 2023’s weather to date has been mostly idyllic. There have, of course, been periods of unsettled conditions. But it’s no secret September was pretty warm and sunny for most with October continuing this trend in a lot of areas.
From a surfing point of view there’s also been a run of decent swell, which when you add sunny skies and lighter winds into the mix, the froth has been tangible. And of course, the sea temperature’s at its warmest right now. So happy days.
Long range weather predictions for October ’23.
Moving forward through the rest of October and the Met Office suggests there may be unsettled bouts initially. Towards the end of the month into November show signals of being drier, brighter and warmer than average. The chance of overnight frost – usually common around this time – lower than average.
Of course, this isn’t guaranteed and merely a prediction. But long range weather forecasts are based on data with often the end result being somewhere along the lines of what was predicted. Unless Mother Nature has a radical mood swing, which can also happen!
Autumn for the watersports win – windsurfing and surfing!
Autumn is a cracking time for watersports. If you’re a wave head then the chances of scoring are higher. And windies will also get their bite of the cherry.
With the above weather scenario in mind, it seems windsurfers will be well catered for in the short term. Before calmer conditions move back in tempting the surfers back on the water. In all instances, NCW has the gear you need for fulfilling sessions in the brine.
