Windsurfing & sailing are just a few things some of NCW’s kiddy wetsuit wearers have been getting up to. This 2024 May half term school holidays have been pretty good in the UK. And by that, we mean for weather and the opportunity to get outside. There’s no better time to get your kids out windsurfing & sailing or doing other outdoor activities. NCW’s Tez tells us more about his experiences.

Windsurfing & sailing wins!
Windsurfing & sailing are good choices of activity for any time of year. Half term holidays – in fact, any school holiday in the UK – can leave some parents scratching their heads about what to do. Especially if Mother Nature’s not playing ball. Off season breaks can be especially tricky. Fortunately, my own offspring enjoy being outdoors and active.
This May half term we were firmly rooted at out local stretch of water windsurfing & sailing. The forecast was good (mostly) which makes things easier. The first half of the week was dominated by dinghy sailing. With the latter having more of a windsurfing bent.
Sailing Mondays.
With breeze and sunshine aplenty it was straight to business. Optimist sailing was the order of the day on the Monday. This saw my daughter getting amongst it and continuing to sail for four days. It’s a long time to be on the water but her and her crew were no less keen.
Prior to this, we’d enjoyed a spot of light wind windsurfing. Both my son and daughter had been eager to enjoy some stand up sailing action and who were were to argue as parents?
Windsurfing back with a bang.
Following the completion of the Opi dinghy sailing training it was back to boards. The sunshine and breeze remained for the end of the week so back afloat we went.
This time round I opted not only to have my kids on their own windsurf kit. I also chose to bust out the windsurfing tandem – courtesy of a loan from Mike Pringuer. With a big sail, I can comfortably pilot the tandem with a sprog perched up front. It’s a great way to have them experience planing speed and get that feel us windsurfers become addicted to!
NCW kid’s and adult wetsuits.
Right the way through May half term – whether sailing or windsurfing – my kids and I were comfortably protected by North Coast Wetsuits. NCW kid’s wetties have a strong following among parents. They knowing just how well made and fit for purpose this rubber is.

But adult NCW wetsuits are also great! I’ve used mine for all sorts of watery shenanigans. And in all cases, they stand the test and rigours of being on the water. Thanks as always to Mark at NCW for sorting the family out!
