It goes without saying that summer 2021 will be a busy one. With staycationing on the agenda once again anywhere with open space – particularly coastal locations – are going to be pretty busy. If the weather’s playing ball then this’ll only heighten things.
During summer 2020 crowds were significant at certain headline spots and with a winter of discontent coming to an end the coming high season will most likely be even busier – if predictions are anything to go by.
If you’re anything like us, however, then avoiding the masses is important. There’s nothing worse than feeling hemmed in. Claustrophobia and cabin fever soon take over. The fact is: it just isn’t relaxing at the best of times when too many people are in one spot. But you can find respite – wherever your location is.
You don’t need local knowledge (although it helps) if you’re searching for a quiet corner. Modern technology, such as it is, means we all have ways of discovering secluded havens off the beaten track. Seek and ye shall find – so the saying goes.
If you’re a surfer then UK summer isn’t the best for scoring those secret spots as they usally only light up with thumping swell. If, however, you pick and choose your times – such as dawnies and duskies, when the onshore sea breezes have done one – then you’ll most likely get a quieter wave at those more obvious breaks. As well as somewhere to park. During the middle part of the day looking for seclusion, without want for waves, would better be the go.
We appreciate many will want their piece of those headline spots this summer. But there are other venues available with just as much serenity. More so in some cases! Do your research and who knows what you’ll discover this summer. Perhaps you’ll end up with pristine white sandy beach all to yourself…
