You know us; always trying to do something a bit different. Well how about this little ode to surfing we wrote? And no we haven’t decided to become bards and abandon rubber. You can still nab all that NCW neoprene goodness from the website shop or by giving us a bell.
Days when…
Days when you head out at first light for that perfect dawn sesh.
Days when you hit the reef, stacking your take off, leaving a piece of your flesh.
Days when the sun shines and everything’s just right.
Days when it’s cold, dark and seemingly endless night.
Days when the whole family feel the stoke.
Days when your kids take their first paddle stoke.
Days when you stumble across a secret, tubing wave.
Days when you yearn for the sea, stuck in your office cave.
Days when it’s all crusiey and toes on the nose.
Days when it’s macking – thick and heavy with a lip that throws.
Days when you can’t drag yourself out of bed.
Days when your limbs ache scream from the ripping and shred.
Days when you skate to the beach to check on the swell.
Days when it’s summer, flat, but oh well.
Days when there’s barely a gust of breeze.
Days when hands feel like ice blocks, you can’t grip or squeeze.
Days when you walk hand in hand along golden sand.
Days at the after surf party with pumping DJ and rocking band.
Days teaching your land locked mates how to ride.
Days when there’s a wave but there’s too much tide.
Days when you get beat down and pay all your dues at once
Days when Neptune unloads on your bonce.
Days with the smell of wax wafting on the air.
Days when hard ass locals give you that stink eye stare.
Days with seagulls cawing all around.
Days when huge storm waves batter, smash and growl.
Days when you kick back at the end of a long surfing day.
Days you’ll remember come what may.
Days like these make us the surfers we are.
Days if we could we’d bottle or jar.
