Surf season is here and many spots along the UK’s diverse and expansive coastline have been lighting up the last few days. It’s a trend that looks set to continue over the next week or so. And when we say surf we’re talking the fun kind, that everyone can access. Rather than winter death bombs that aren’t that appealing to many.
SUP surfing fun.
Surfing a traditional short or longboard is great fun. We had a few summer sessions recently that reminded us of this. But it’s no secret NCW (as much as we’re super stoked and supportive of surfing) also loves the many other varied ways of riding waves. And getting afloat in general.
A stand up paddle board in waves can be awesome fun. For a lot of riders, the act of popping up, and getting to your feet, on a surfboard is tricky. And a lifelong pursuit. With a paddle board you’re already standing. So that aspect is eliminated. Add the paddle, which gives an additional boost, and the oversize board you’re standing on and wave catching (let alone actual wave riding) becomes more doable. Suddenly, all those years of struggling with a conventional surfboard are out the window and riders are poised to have more wave sliding fun than ever with a surf SUP.
The Freshwater Bay Paddleboard Co. Classic.
We appreciate that paddle boards and wave riding is still a divisive subject for many. Even surfers who’ve discovered flat water paddle boarding for those no swell days wouldn’t be caught with a paddle and board in a line up. And yet for many sessions, a SUP would be the best call to maximise the fun.
Freshwater Bay Paddleboard Co.’s Classic 9’11 and 10’6 hard SUPs are some of the very best wave riding ‘machines’ available. This claim isn’t made lightly. It’s born of many hours atop different brand boards, testing and assessing their performance. The Classic stands out time and again. and that’s even with the quoted dimensions. Which actually mean nothing. It’s all about feel and how the board interacts with rider and water.
On top of all this wave prowess, the Classic retains some flat water paddling ability. Making it a versatile sled.
Wave season continues.
The 2022 autumn season has only just begun. And there are many more weeks of potential swell action. It’d be a shame to not be armed with the right ‘tools for the job’. And a Freshwater Bay Paddleboard Co. Classic 9’11 or 10’6 is certainly that. A ‘tool’ to make use of surf conditions whatever they are.
For sure, don’t do away with your everyday surfboard. But don’t be shy in grabbing a paddle and board for even more wave shredding fulfillment either.
