NCW’s bespoke wetsuit and accessories alterations service is provided with everyone in mind. Not all sizes and style of wetsuit and wetsuit accessories will fit 100%. There are always nuances that need to be accounted for. And sometimes, even then, those standard sizes aren’t really doing the job however you try to make it work. Which is where our inhouse seamstress (Becci) comes in.
A little while back we were approached by Sophie Knight who has a specific need. Having tried to find suitable wetsuit gloves to keep her in the water surfing through colder months, to no avail, Sophie got in touch with NCW to see what we could do. Here’s that story.
I was born with a deformed left hand, which is much smaller than my right hand. Conventional gloves or mittens have never really fitted so I’ve made do over the years by turning gloves inside out, buying adult gloves for my right hand and children’s mittens for my left as well as dodgy DIY jobs!
I learnt to surf 6 years ago. This started as fair weather surfing but having moved to North Devon earlier in 2022 I wanted to get in the water regularly all year round. I mentioned to my partner Anthony that I wanted to get a well fitting wetsuit glove to make those winter surfs less chilly!
We wanted to support a local business so Anthony reached out to NCW who were incredibly kind and agreed to make me a bespoke glove. Amazingly we managed to achieve this remotely with only one alteration! We sent an outline of my hand with the different dimensions via email and a well fitting glove arrived in the post. A big thank you to North Coast Wetsuits for all their help and incredibly efficient service!
